Our Impact
The Harrison Riedel Foundation works to reduce the time between when a young person needs help and when they receive it.
We do this by strengthening help-seeking capability and support networks around young people through teacher-led school programs and accessible digital tools. Together, these help young people recognise when support may be needed, communicate with known and trusted people in their lives, and access professional help earlier.

How Our Model Works
We build help-seeking skills in schools, reinforce them through digital tools, and connect young people to trusted people and services when needed.
Building Help-Seeking Skills in Schools
YourCrew Classroom and YourCrew: Transitions to High School support students:
- recognise when they or their friends may need support
- build confidence to speak up and ask for help
- strengthen connections with trusted adults and peers
- understand what to say, what to do and where to go
Delivered by teachers, these programs embed practical wellbeing skills into everyday school life.
Supporting Young People Beyond the Classroom
The YourCrew mobile and web platform helps young people:
- identify known and trusted supporters
- check in on their wellbeing
- create a personalised digital safety plan
- access professional support and crisis services
- find relevant local service
The platform complements existing services by helping young people navigate support options and connect with help earlier.
Designed With Young People
YourCrew has been co-designed with young people, including the HRF Youth Advisory Crew and the Youth Advisory Group at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, South Australia.
The YourCrew safety planning framework is also embedded within the Women’s and Children’s Hospital South Australia CAMHS emergency department.
Why Early Help Matters
50% of mental health conditions emerge before the age of 14 and 75% before age 24, yet there is often a significant delay between the onset of symptoms and receiving appropriate support.
By strengthening help-seeking capability and support networks, HRF works to reduce this gap and support earlier access to help.
Why the HRF Model Matters
The HRF Model:
- focuses on prevention and early support
- strengthens trusted support networks
- equips schools with practical, scalable tools
- provides clear pathways to professional help
Helping young people know what to do, what to say and where to go when they or their friends need help.
